How Long Lord & Other Questions for God

Ever look at the world around you or what is going on in your life and your mind is filled with questions for God? Maybe it something like: “God why aren’t you acting?” Or “God when will you show yourself?” Or even “God, if you truly love me, why is this happening?” We’ve all faced those questions and more. And we can be encouraged that numerous writers in the Bible did as well. Thanks for watching today as we tackle…

Perspective Amidst Challenging Issues

As I was thinking about the vlog for today, my thoughts turned to the challenging issues that Pastor Paul covered last week and will be covering this coming Sunday (AI/Transhumanism and Cancel Culture). We as Christians can often be quick to fight immediately on these things in the political realm, to speak our voice “loudly” on social media. But as I thought on them further, I was overwhelmingly convicted with the need for us to step back for a moment…

A Place of Relief or Terror

Ever read a passage of Scripture and then a friend’s perspective or something you read enlightens you to give you a different perspective? I had that today with an email I received that gave me an additional biblical look on a favorite passage. It opened my eyes today and I pray it will yours as well as we look at Psalm 18. Is he a place of relief? Or is God a place of terror? Thanks for joining us online…

Sharing the Gospel with Jewish People

Actions Amidst Suffering

As we were in Romans 8 this past Sunday, we began to build a foundation of understanding suffering. Paul noted that glory is greater, we and creation both groan for redemption to be fully realized, and that as we wait, the Spirit of God intercedes for us. Today, let’s look at actions to take amidst suffering as we continue to build this foundation. Thanks for watching. “Our Present Suffering” (Romans 8:17b-27) CCLI Streaming License # 20229783

Four Essentials for Finishing Well

As we continue to build on and think through Paul’s message on Sunday, I’d like to add four additional essentials to finishing well as Christians. These are reflections from one of my favorite authors, and I trust will serve us well as we continue our Christian race individually and as a church. Thanks for watching. “Finishing Well” (Various Scriptures)

Important Ingredient for Finishing Well

As I was thinking back through Paul’s message from Sunday about finishing well, there was an important quality or aspect that I have been mulling over in my mind. I’d like to share that with you today along with some thoughts as we continue to put together this recipe for finishing the Christian life well. Thanks for watching! “Finishing Well” (Various Scriptures)

Hopeful Mourning – A Path Preventing Despair

Yesterday, we looked at these questions: “To what degree should we mourn over the sins of others? Are we supposed to go around depressed all the time?” As I finished up and posted yesterday’s vlog though, I realized that I forgot an important part. To prevent entering a constant state of despair, let’s look at hope and how it correlates with mourning. “Because of Our Wicked Actions…” (Ezra 9)

Mourning Over Sin – Can We Take It Too Far?

Today’s vlog stems not only from what we discussed on Sunday but from an application question I was reading this week as I was preparing for my weekly vlogs. It’s this: “To what degree should we mourn over the sins of others? Are we supposed to go around depressed all the time?” It took a bit extra time to look at this subject this week. Join us today as we begin to unpack those questions. “Because of Our Wicked Actions…”…

Thoughts on Death

Death is a reality for all of us. Unless Jesus comes again before we enter the grave, we will all die. And death is one of those odd subjects that people don’t like to talk about but yet commands interest as well. There are all sorts of stories on YouTube about people’s after-death experiences. I was watching a video today asking “What happens when we die?” Looking to Scripture, what does it have to say about death and hope for…

Vertical Vision (Jas 5)

In James 5, we see both oppression and injustice. As James tells his readers to “be patient” in 5:7, he calls them to a different perspective. And that perspective that he calls them to is meant to impact their everyday life. Thanks for watching as we explore these subjects together! “One Response” (Jas 5:7-12)

LOOKING AT TRIALS THROUGH GOD’S EYES (JAMES 1)

We are taking a break in Genesis to focus more intentionally on James as we work through it on Sunday mornings and keep that text fresh in our minds. Set aside some time to watch that video from Sunday. Join us today as we seek to gain some perspective on trials, particularly God’s perspective.

AN ETERNAL PERSPECTIVE (PART 1)

None of us appreciates suffering, yet Paul tells us in 2 Corinthians 4 that God has a purpose even in the suffering we experience. Paul encourages us to look at our suffering from an eternal perspective to give us focus as we experience it.
