Citizens Living as Citizens
Citizens living as citizens. It is a concept we see in Scripture though written a little bit differently. It is a reminder that our physical address does not determine our primary allegiance as God’s children. His Word and rule are to direct not only as we live for him but ultimatley in our physical locales here on earth as well. Thanks for joining us as we continue the discussion from Sunday. God bless! “We Still Need a Savior”
Dual Citizenship (GPS Vlog #2)
Christians have a unique identity. Not only are we citizens of our respective countries of origin (or more generally citizens of earth), but we are also citizens of heaven. I find that when it comes to hot topics as we are discussing in our new sermon series that we tend to side with the earthly rather than heavenly citizenship. Today, we’re diving into this subject of dual citizenship and what it means for us in our interactions with others and…
Security & Fruit (Jas 5)
At the end of James, he calls us to seek the lost whether that be an unbeliever in the midst of the church or a believer who is caught up in sin. That study on Sunday naturally leads us into a conversation about eternal security and how maybe we have abused it at times. Thanks for joining us today! “To Seek & Save the Lost”
Depending on God
James confronts those living in complete independence of God at the end of chapter 4. If that is what living independently of God looks like, what is characteristic of a life dependent on God? Thanks for watching as we explore that question today!
Alleviating Skepticism with Wisdom (Jas 3)
I was reading an article today talking about skepticism toward Christianity. While there were several reasons for that skepticism, one of them dealt specifically with what we have been talking about in James 3. And wisdom is the key to resolving this matter. A FAMINE OF FAITH (GENESIS 12)
In the last half of Genesis 12, Abram encounters a famine in the land. As a result, he moved to Egypt to escape this severe time for his family & fortune. While there was a famine in the land, you might also say that there was a famine of faith in Abram’s life. What do I mean and what can we learn from this time in Abram’s life? Join us today!
LINE OF OLD MEN (GENESIS 6)
Be honest. You probably skip over chapter 5 as you read through Genesis. We often see the lineages as unimportant. It’s just a line of old men who died and record of their sons. That may be what we think, but if we look a bit deeper and consider the context it is in, there is more to be learned from it. Genesis 5 isn’t just about a line of old me. It’s about God’s faithfulness, about hope, about man’s…
LIVING WITHOUT AUTHORITY
Living with no authority has serious consequences for our lives. I’m talking specifically about the authority of God. We see that with the nation of Israel in Judges where in chs. 17, 18, 19, & 21 we see the same phrase repeated: “Israel had no king.” The author sandwiches the last part of the book with the phrase: “they did what was right in their own eyes.” Even as Christians we have a tendency to do this? How might you…
#CONVENIENTcHRISTIANITY
I normally publish a video during on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday with a passage or question to focus on to encourage and equip the church. Wednesdays, I focus usually an answering a question. As I was thinking on what I might cover today, I kept coming back to our subject on Sunday (#ConvenientChristianity) as we focus on this study Rooted (Grounded in the Word. Prepared for the Future.). As I was preparing last week for Sunday, I came across an…
