Mix Reactions Toward God’s Sovereignty

The sovereignty of God can invoke a number of reactions from people. It may incite praise. It may create bewilderment and questions. It may incite critical comments and even anger. Since Romans 9’s focus was centralized on God’s sovereignty, let’s take a bit more time to explore that today and our mixed reactions as human beings toward this important attribute of God. “God Is the Potter. We Are the Clay.” (Romans 9:14-33)

Life & Breath & Everything (Ezra-Nehemiah Vlog #1)

As I was reading early this week, the Lord suddenly struck me with a thought related to our salvation. Whether it was brought on by the reading or Pastor Paul’s sermon, I don’t know but the thought was abundantly clear in my mind and speaks once more to the amazing grace of God. “Worship: Start Here” (Ezra 2-3) The Gospel

Good Father with Good Wisdom (GPS #3)

Continuing on the theme of fatherhood that Pastor Paul hit on Sunday, let’s journey back to the book of James today and see its correlation to the book of Proverbs as we talk about God being a good Father who gives good wisdom. “Our Father…” – 1 Jn 3:1

God’s Faithfulness Hasn’t Changed

God was faithful in bringing what he promised to pass as we talked last time. Sometimes however, we doubt his faithfulness from an experiential level as we encounter certain events and times in our lives. But his faithfulness never changes. He always has a plan, is always working it out for our best and his glory. Thanks for watching!

TRAGEDY & HOPE (GENESIS 3)

The fall of man is ultimately a matter of whether or not one trusts God. There is so much in our world today that looks good but underneath we soon discover that we’ve been deceived by Satan & his pack of lies. As we see in the text though, we serve an amazing God who seeks us and who also offers us hope. Join us for Genesis 3 today!

PRAISE THE LORD FOR IT IS GOOD

I was reading through Psalm 147 today and was simply impressed and encouraged by several verses. Today’s vlog is just sharing my thoughts and some encouragements from those verses.

LIVING WITHOUT AUTHORITY

Living with no authority has serious consequences for our lives. I’m talking specifically about the authority of God. We see that with the nation of Israel in Judges where in chs. 17, 18, 19, & 21 we see the same phrase repeated: “Israel had no king.” The author sandwiches the last part of the book with the phrase: “they did what was right in their own eyes.” Even as Christians we have a tendency to do this? How might you…

GIVE THANKS TO THE LORD FOR HE IS…

As I read through Psalm 118 today, I was caught by the fact that it is bookended by the same exact words. As the psalmist writes down everything in between, he proves the point is introduces and concludes with. Indeed we should give God thanks for he is…

WHAT HAVE I DONE (DEUT 1)

Why have you allowed this God? What have I done to deserve this? Do you hate me? Those are questions that either you or others have asked as they’ve gone through various situations. The nation of Israel did too. Isn’t it interesting how we forget what God had done. As we go through various situations, it’s important to pause and think for a bit on what God may be doing, how he may be growing us, or even how he…

DO NOT LET YOUR HEARTS BE TROUBLED (JOHN 14)

There is much that can distress our hearts and minds today. Just think through the social and political turmoil over the last year. Then we add to that the daily events in our lives that tug at our hearts and minds to worry and be anxious. Jesus calls us to a different path – “Do not let your hearts be troubled.” He calls us to rest in him and trust in him. It’s not always easy, but it gives a…

GOOD, EVIL & ABSOLUTE TRUTH

The problem of good and evil has been ongoing for centuries. People are particularly confounded about how to tackle this issue as they see the evil and the world and read about the goodness of God in the Scriptures. I was disturbed recently by a statement a fellow graduate school student made. Why? Take a moment to watch.

GOD IS GOOD – PSALM 103

With everything going on around us, we may question God’s goodness. Yet Psalm 103 reminds us that God is indeed worthy of praise because he is good. David then proceeds through the Psalm to testify to God’s goodness. These words are encouraging reminders for us today.
