#ASKPD: JUDGMENT IN JOSHUA
As I was reading through Joshua 11-12 today, I noticed a phrase that I have seen in the New Testament. Pondering on that for a moment, it helps us to answer the question about why see the drastic measures of God’s wrath in the Old Testament, particularly as Israel enters the land. Take a moment to watch and consider.
IS THIS RIGHT? DOES THIS APPLY TO ME? (#ASKPD)
What does this passage mean? Is this the right way to understand this passage? How in the world does this apply to me? Those are honest questions that we ask as we study the Word of God. Interpretation and application. That’s the focus of today’s vlog and crucial for our day and age when many are ignoring the truth of Scripture and what God was teaching us through it.
WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE?
Today President Joe Biden was inaugurated as the 46th President of the United States. As with any change of power, these moments are landmarks in our nation’s history. Perhaps you are asking as I have been: “Where do we go from here?” These recent months (and even years) have revealed a flaw in our lives, in who we are ultimately putting our trust in. And even though the faces that make up our national government have changed, we serve the…
WHATS IS GOD’S WILL – PART 2 (#ASKPD)
Last week we talked about the will of God, a subject that many wonder about and a question that many ask. I ran across a video at adds some helpful tidbits to this discussion that may aid you personally or help as you minister to others.
WHAT IS GOD’S WILL? (#ASKPD)
What is God’s will for me in….? I can’t tell you how many times I have asked that question personally or have heard others ask it. We are often looking in it for the audible voice from God to give us specific direction. I appreciate an avenue of looking at God’s will that I saw several years ago that I think helps to give all of us a better perspective on this often asked question.
WHAT IS HISTORIC? (#ASKPD)
Any election can be a very important time in the history of a local community or the large scope of a nation. I’ve heard this election described numerous times as “historic.” It may certainly have some significant ramifications on Christian liberties & godly commands and principles. But in the overall course of history, how long will it be remembered? 20 years? Even significant parts of history are no longer remembered by the masses any longer. What is truly historic?
RESPONDING TO BAD LEADERS & LAWS (#ASKPD)
Sunday we covered the subject of civil disobedience (for that message, please see the link below). Let’s continue that subject a bit asking: “How do we respond to bad leaders & bad laws?” What part can we play in our society as citizens? And what should be our ultimate concern? This is a huge topic that even these few moments here won’t exhaust. Yet, we’ll give a few answers to these questions. “To Obey or Not Obey? That’s the Dilemma.”…
GOOD, EVIL & ABSOLUTE TRUTH
The problem of good and evil has been ongoing for centuries. People are particularly confounded about how to tackle this issue as they see the evil and the world and read about the goodness of God in the Scriptures. I was disturbed recently by a statement a fellow graduate school student made. Why? Take a moment to watch.
WHAT IS UNITY – EPHESIANS 4 (#ASKPD)
In a world that seems disunified more than ever, the subject of unity keeps coming up in the church and the reminder to strive for it. Could we define it though if we were asked to or tell others what it looked like? I’m grateful that God in Ephesians 4 gives us a picture of what it looks like and describes it for us. Take a moment to read the chapter and then watch. Ephesians 4 NET
WHY DO SO MANY CHRISTIANS NOT HAVE A BIBLICALLY CONSISTENT WORLDVIEW? (#ASKPD)
In this segment of #askpd, we explore this question: Why do so many Christians not have a consistent biblical worldview? It is a hard question to explore as it implies that some do not believe what the Bible says. Today, we’ll define what a worldview is, explore what negatively affects our worldview, give some solutions to this issues, and also answer why it’s important to have a consistent biblical worldview. Thanks for watching.
#ASKPD – WHAT IS FELLOWSHIP?
Fellowship. It’s a common word we use for the time when we enjoy coffee and cookies or some homemade goodies between the Sunday School hour and worship service. As we look to the New Testament though, fellowship has a much different meaning. While a meal or snacks may certainly be involved, fellowship is much deeper. Take a moment to watch this segment of #askpd as we answer the question: What is fellowship?
HOW DO I APPLY BIBLICAL TEXTS IN MODERN SOCIETY? (#ASKPD)
Thanks for joining us for this segement of #askpd. The Bible, though completed in it’s writing almost 2,000 years ago, applies just as much to our lives today as it did back then. Sometimes the changes in culture though make us question whether something is still relevant today. Take a moment to watch. You’ll find a couple of key points as well as questions that guide you to applying it in your life today. If you have Bible or life…
WHY WOULD GOD ALLOW…? (ASK PD)
Why would God allow? That’s a question many have asked undoubtely since after the fall of man. The subject of the question varies based upon our own personal experienes. This week, I’m sharing a moving video I watched from Paul Tripp. While it addressed the specific issue of “why does God allow disability?”, the theology & principle he conveys allows us to process many other circumstances from a biblical standpoint. Remember it’s all about God’s glory & sometimes our finite…
WHY DOES GOD ALLOW PAIN? (#ASKPD)
That is a hard question to answer and one that people have wrestled with since the beginning of time. Job wrestled with this which we read about in the Old Testament. While we can’t cover it entirely, I’d like to offer a few thoughts on pain from the point of Scripture and how it may in fact be useful in a sense. The knowledge doesn’t make the circumstance or process easier always, but it does give us a foundation through…
NEW SEGMENT (ASK PD) & “GOSPEL IS FOR TODAY”
Two birds with one stone. That’s a phrase I’ve heard and used numerous times and categorizes today’s vlog. I’m introducing a new Wednesday segement set to start next week called “Ask PD”. In this segement, I’ll be answering any Bible questions you might have. Our purpose is to equip and encourage people and pray that this segement will be one more tool in doing that. Additionally, I’m sharing a devotion that I read today that I pray will encourage you…
